Van gogh was more that just an ear

I've been reading reviews about this exhibit all over.
"The real van gogh: the artist and his letters" at the Royal Academy

This exhibition seems more like a biography on walls, made possible not only by his paintings but also drawings and letters (most of which he wrote to his brother).

The image we have of him being this out of control half crazy artist, complete with missing ear, but  apparently for most of his life he was very meticulous and dedicated to his painting in a way what we would find surprising.

reviews here or here

his letters can also be read via paper copy for about a gagillion pounds
