Us, 30?

Two weeks in and I'm guessing most of us are already struggling with our New Year's resolutions ("lose weight," "eat less junk food"), those pesky commandments we routinely break every January.
In the course of this struggle, though, we are probably also avoiding some much bigger life goals, such as: Finish our education; secure a good job; buy a home; and, for many, find that special someone.
These goals, milestones really, felt inevitable a generation or two ago, but now seem to be increasingly difficult to achieve.
Let me do a little compare and contrast: At my age, my mother had completed her master's degree in English, was married, worked full time and had a home and two children.
