Would you drink something 228 years old?

Divers found a bottle of champagne in a shipwreck off of Sweden.
Apparently its dated to 1782 (or just about), around the time of Louis XIV.
"According to records, Veuve Clicquot was first produced in 1772, but the first bottles were laid down for 10 years.
“So it can’t be before 1782, and it can’t be after 1788-89, when the French Revolution disrupted production,” Ekstroem said.
Aaland wine expert Ella Gruessner Cromwell-Morgan, whom Ekstroem asked to taste the find, said it had not lost its fizz and was “absolutely fabulous”."

Guccis, getting all crazy...

"This week's amusing fashion news story brings bad tidings for Elisabetta Gucci, who is being sued by the Gucci Group for, essentially, being called Gucci. She is the great-grandaughter of Gucci founder Guccio Gucci, so it's not like she isn't one of those Guccis, plus she worked for the Gucci Group until 1995, but now she has had the temerity to plan a group of hotels which will be called Elisabetta Gucci Hotels. Shall we rearrange the words "freaks" and "control"? Has anyone ever used the word Gucci so many times in one paragraph before? Questions, questions."

Galleries are the spiritual houses of the 2000's?

I heard this lady speak on cbc, however she recently wrote an article for the guardian postulating that galleries are replacing churches as spiritual centers. She also talks about the lack of religion in contemporary art.

"Despite the centrality of faith in the art of centuries past, religious themes within contemporary art are fading fast. At Chelsea College of Art & Design, where I work as chaplain, God is dead. As students in their studios aspire to join the avant garde there is only a faint desire to look back at works in which the Christian tradition is central. Perhaps when universal themes such as death, suffering and delight are explored though a religious and theological lens the students cannot see them. Could it be then that art is replacing religion? The Tate's Turbine Hall, into which visitors flock, could be recreating the awe and excitement that great cathedrals and churches once provided. Or is it that objects created by people are filling in the empty spaces where the ineffable and the invisible once dwelled?"

Goats eat oats, do you?

"A new world record for the biggest bowl of porridge has been set at the annual Cupar Highland Games in Fife.

The huge breakfast of 690 litres of porridge which was cooked up could feed 2,000 people and was more than double the existing record."

Piano Battle

I'd heard of Andrew WK and his song, its time to party, but not Gonzales, all the same its kind of fun. Gonzales parts are beautiful.

"While he’s “worshiped in France,” Gonzales—a.k.a. the former “President of the Berlin Underground”—is a pianist/producer/prankster MC who’s best known for his work with other artists.

“Ever hear of Feist?” Gonzales asked a packed Joe’s Pub crowd on Friday night. “I made her.”

He’s kidding, of course. Well, kinda. It only takes a little bit of research to realize Gonzales’ position alongside Mocky as the unsung heroes of a Canadian clique that includes Peaches, Feist and their close British friend Jamie Lidell.

That might change when Gonzales releases his next record in the spring, a Boys Noize-produced affair that’s bound to test the musical baggage of both artists. We’ll reveal exclusive details about that disc later this week, as we run separate interviews with both artists. For now, here’s a complete video clip recap of Gonzales’ break-of-dawn piano battle with Andrew W.K. at Joe’s Pub… "
